Why We Travel

We are Durga Charan Mishra  and Jotshna Mishra, married travel blogger couple, from Puri, Odisha.
In the past twenty years, traveling has been our passion and we love exploring the cultures,  nature, food, art, history.

 I’m 68  years old and my wife, Jotshna, is 57, and we love to travel together. My wife is my lifelong friend and a long-term traveling companion. We love to see new places and experience the beauty, food and people of different regions. India is full of surprises and it is always exciting to explore new places, visiting historical sites, eating a new cuisine, communicating with people when our language doesn't matter.

We never know what might happen on the road. Stepping out into the unknown is what makes travel so exciting. Each day brings endless possibilities, but that possibility could be good or bad. We prepare our self to face anything on the way. An unfamiliar experience always leaves us with a new skill or knowledge. It is like whole world is a classroom. Every destination has something unique and experiencing this in real life, not reading it in a textbook, is a great learning. It stays with us and satisfies the soul.

We love to travel as it expands our perspective by challenging us to learn more about ourselves and appreciating our life. We travel to open our hearts and eyes to learn more about people and their life. We realize that there’s no one way to live life.

For a truly authentic experience and to get to know the local culture we consider staying in local hostels which also helps with our budget. Our passion has always helped us in meeting people and making new friends. Meeting people who know nothing about you and you know nothing about them can be very interesting.

Vivek Express,  Longest train in India by both time and distance. A journey is a pleasure and it is much more joyful to me if it is a train journey. It caters to all my excitement points : varied sizes of railway stations, exploring less known places, interesting food, the hustle bustle at the stations, young lads belting out songs to make some money, tea-chain-lock&key vendors making noise (although after a few stations you kind of start to enjoy it) and region specific intersting food and not to forget...the most interesting people . 'DHABA' : Road side restaurants in India

We have been traveling consistently over the past 20 years on motorcycle and sometimes by car. We both are passionate travelers and have traveled to most parts of India and explored the destinations in unique ways. We love to travel in India because there is simply nowhere like it. Every visit is different, every experience is unique, the people and the culture and the food of this great country India, makes it unique. During our road journey we had an opportunity of dining the entire period at the Dhabas, the road side restaurants. Dhabas are situated on highways and on the outskirts of the cities, towns and villages. They are most commonly found next to petrol stations and most of them are open 24 hours a day. The word Dhaba has come to represent that serves Punjabi food preferred by the highway travelers and the truck drives.
